From Michael Kane: Today, long-time Peekskill community leader Mike Kane officially announced his candidacy for Westchester County Legislator in District 1.
Kane’s announcement comes along with the news that he will be running with the endorsement of the Democratic, Independence and Working Families parties.
Kane said: “County government can be smarter, more efficient and work harder to meet the needs of the people of Northern Westchester. I’m running to keep taxes low and bring a fresh approach to county government.”
Mike has lived in Peekskill for 14 years and raised his only daughter in Peekskill. An active member of the community who is committed to giving back, Mike’s campaign will be rooted in a lifetime of community involvement. Mike has served on the Board of KEON Center (CARE, Inc), a non-profit agency that serves the needs of the developmentally disabled. Mike is a former associate member of the Cortlandt Hook and Ladder and the current Chair of the Peekskill Democratic Committee. He was asked to serve, and did serve, on the Westchester Board of Legislators Environmental Committee as well as the Westchester County Democratic Labor Committee.

He is also a shop steward for the Communications Workers of America (CWA) 1150 where he represents fellow workers in all aspects of workplace issues from equal rights to treatment of employees to contract disputes. He was previously the Vice President of CWA Local 1153.
Kane said: “My whole life I’ve worked to strengthen communities and bring people together. I’m excited about hearing from the voters and working to build up our communities to solve problems.”
